Supplier Connectivity AchievedJourneyEd, jointly with Microsoft, Sunrise Technologies, and Idea Integration, has successfully implemented an Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) solution based on the Microsoft's Biztalk Server 2006 platform. The solution ties together inventory data provided by our major suppliers into JourneyEd's existing Microsoft Dynamics-AX back-engine implementation to facilitate direct customer sales of Ingram Micro inventory. This integration has occurred using the existing supplier XML interface(s) and has leveraged the Microsoft Dynamics AX Business Connector to facilitate automated data entry into our existing JourneyEd Academic eStore Network (AEN) online product ordering system. For customers, this integration means more products, larger selection, and better customer service. "For example, if items are designated as a drop-ship from Ingram or as a back-up drop-ship (meaning we normally stock, but are temporarily out of stock), once cleared for shipping the item will drop-ship in an efficient, professional manner." Customers will be able to track their orders from JourneyEd's website and receive all the usual auto-email notifications that a standard customer would receive if the item left from JourneyEd's own warehouse. "Simply put, our seven year old quest to become connected with our suppliers via an EDI or XML interface is now a reality," said Michael Fischler, President and CEO of JourneyEd. "Instead of waiting for us to add items to our systems (or choosing which items to add), we can easily add whole lines of categories or products within those categories." By the end of the year, more than 19,000 sku's will have been added to JourneyEd's AEN. Going forward, this will enable JourneyEd to take a product to market faster and also pull cancelled products in a more timely fashion. Connectivity also allows JourneyEd to have a seamless integration that allows the company to electronically submit, process and track orders. |
