JourneyEd Adds Staff
There are two new faces at JourneyEd in 2008 with the addition of Scott Arey as Chief Financial Officer and Joe Cheng as Chief Information Officer. John Wainwright has also assumed his new position of Vice President, Web Development.
Mr. Arey possesses more than 20 years experience in finance since graduating from Stanford University. From 1989-1993, he was Vice President and Senior Finance Manager of Bank of America’s Commercial Banking Division. Since leaving Bank of America, Scott has had three successful tours as Chief Financial Officer for start-up companies. He most recently served as CFO of ARESCOM, Inc. a leading broadband infrastructure equipment manufacturer and its sister company Hangcom Technology. Scott’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a BA in Public Policy (with honors) from Stanford University. |

As CIO, Mr. Cheng will direct, plan, organize, and oversee all activities of the Technology and Information areas to ensure the effective, efficient and secure operation of all technology and automated data processing systems of our company. Joe and his department will also responsible for the planning and management of the JourneyEd’s computer operations and related functions (communications, office systems, production activities, etc.) that support the growth and strategic business plans of our organization.
Most recently Joe was Chief Database Architect for Harte-Hanks/Postfuture, which is based in Richardson, TX. Joe was architect of the database server infrastructure for the Email Marketing division of the largest direct marketing company in U.S. Before Harte-Hanks Joe was Senior Database Administrator for USFreightways, Logistics Division. Joe was in charge of all database related technologies for the $350 million Logistics division of US Freightways. He also has worked as Manager, Web Publishing for JCPenney.com. Joe's education includes a Master of Science in Management and Administrative Sciences from the University of Texas - Dallas. |

After identifying the enormous amount of projects and responsibilities that were projected for 2008 and beyond, JourneyEd CEO Mike Fischler made the decision to split off the company’s Web and IT groups. John Wainwright who headed up both groups and was Director of IT, became VP Web Development. The Web Group is responsible for the operation of our Academic eStore Network, which now numbers approximately 15,000 eStores. |
