In Word Parts students learn to use longer, more complex words as they engage in fun multimedia activities that encourage them to break multisyllabic words into manageable units, such as syllables, simple morphemes, compound words, common letter-sound sequences - and other word parts! Students create meaningful compositions that can be saved in personal journals.
Throughout Word Parts students will have opportunities to:
Identify spoken and written syllables in words
Sort pictures and words into groups based on syllables
Add common word endings (-ing, -ed, -s, -er, -est) to base words
Create personal word banks
Compose poems, riddles, and "Mad Blab" stories using multisyllabic words
