Animal Facts
Young children are naturally intrigued by animals and animal facts. Very early on children begin to categorize animals by species and learn interesting facts about them. This early interest in animals provides the motivation for later work in life sciences.
Map Skills
Children learn to draw maps using pictures at first. They then go on to use landmarks and location words. By grade school children use maps and globes to to locate and work out distances between places.
World Geography
When children first learn about world geography it is often in terms of the habitat of different animals. Children go on to learn about the different countries around the world, the different types of flora and fauna and the cultures of the people who live there.
